Tolman had 3 groups of rats, all these rats are bred to learn how to run mazes (good sense of direction and good sense of smell at the finish line: one group had food at the end. These rats after steady reinforcement learned the maze and how to run it quickly: the other two groups had no food but just wandered in the maze. One of the groups is never reinforced, they wander and if they get to the end, its by chance. The other group is given reinforcement after 10th day. They outperform the ones that were reinforced all the time!
