Document Summary

Behavioural perspective: interested in looking at observable behavior and determining their antecedents and consequences. Antecedent: what happened before the behavior (what triggered behavior) In the past, on the contrary, structuralism by method of introspection was used but it was not a good method b/c its subjective and it was hard to verify behavior. Learning: a relatively durable change in behavior that occurs as a result of experience or practice (being able to do something that you were not able to do before) Durable: the time it takes for something to actually be learned (not just forgotten by time) Performance: if people performed well, it is assumed they learned. If they didn"t perform well, you can"t assume they didn"t learn (many other factors) Types of learning: classical conditioning (pavlov, operant conditioning (skinner, cognitive learning: acquiring mental information or learning through language i) Observational learning: learning from observing what happened to someone else.
