No universal definition of what is abnormal behaviour. Many different conceptions, each with pros and cons: Deviance behaviour, thoughts, and emotions are considered abnormal when they differ from accepted standards. Judgements of deviance and abnormality vary from society to society. Meaning uncommon in the population/something that isn"t quite right. Most mental disorders produce emotional pain dysfunction/impairment. Most mental disorders interfere with people"s ability to function in everyday life. But not all conditions that impair ability to function are dysfunctional. Many mental disorders may result from the breakdowns or failures neurotransmitters. Under activation of frontal lobes in schizophrenia or psychopathy. Some people with psychological dysfunction become dangerous to themselves or others. If, for example, individuals are very hostile or confused, they may put themselves, family members, or friends at risk. Misconceptions: psychiatric diagnosis is nothing more than pigeonholing, psychiatric diagnoses are unreliable, psychiatric diagnoses are invalid, psychiatric diagnoses stigmatize people.
