I am going to show you a series of pictures. Each picture will be presented for 2 seconds. Pay atenion to the pictures, and try your best to remember them (do not write anything down). Later on, i will ask you some quesions about the pictures. Memory is recalling past events and past learning by means of encoding, storage, and retrieval. Encoding: puing informaion into a form the brain can understand and geing it into memory. Storage: the process of retaining memories in the brain for later use. I am going to show you an array of 12 leters. Try to remember as many of them as you can. Write down the leters you think you remember. Write down the leters in the middle row. Results from irst trial indicated sensory memory can hold 3-4 items. Results from second trial also showed 3-4 items can be held in sensory memory.
