Document Summary

Circulatory system has 3 components: circulatory fluid, set of tubes, muscular pump. Small organs have direct exchange, open system: exchange between hemolymph & cells, closed system: exchange happens between blood & between interstitial fluid & body cells. Closed systems = more efficient @transporting circulatory fluids to tissues & cells, allows more rapid blood flow; more efficient transport of wastes & nutrients, & higher. Bp than is possible in open circulatory systems. Cardiovascular system blood vessels(arteries-carry blood away from heart to arterioles,,capillaries-chemical exchange between blood and interstitial fluid and these vessel network called capillary beds which converge into venules. Veins-return blood from capillaries to heart),2- 4 chambered heart(2atria-receive blood & The hearts: amphibians have a 3-chambered heart with 1 ventricle and 2 atria. Birds and mammals have a 4-chambered heart, with 2 ventricles and 2 atria. Single circulation: the system where the blood passes through the heart once in each complete circuit (fish), work well in water.
