There are many different ways of looking at health. A model that emphasizes prevention of ill-health and the promotion of purposeful, enjoyable living is preferable to one that focuses on treatment. Global top 10 causes of mortality: coronary artery disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lower respiratory infections, lung cancer, aids, diarrhea, road traffic injuries, diabetes, tuberculosis. Health models- a model is a way to represent a concept. Historically, a (cid:498)medical model(cid:499) of health predominated. Health is viewed as the absence of disease. You go to see a physician when you have signs and symptoms of disease: signs- something you can see, symptoms- something you feel.
