Employment law : body of law which regulates the rights, restrictions or obligations of non-unionized workers and their employers. Bna act, 1867 (later renamed constitutional act, 1867) separated their powers, it was repatriated (brought home to canada) and became the constitutional act, Bna act, 1867 : highest court was the privy council in uk and amend constitution. Constitutional act, 1982 : highest court is the supreme court of canada and can amend constitution. Intra vires : within one"s legal power or authority. Ultra vires : beyond one"s legal power or authority. See slide 6 and 7 for the separation for power. Federal law goes in the jurisdiction of provincial law they can strike it down. Bc labour relation code : related to unions employees. Employment standards act : related to non-union employees.
