Five basic questions to ask of your research evidence: When looking for the authority of the article, you should be concerned with the source not just the container. The container is only relevant when they offer an opinion or are the source of the facts being used. Cautionary notes for research re-purposing academic research: you have to be cautious to use information that has a particular scope, experts opinion can be very effective because they are a recognized authority. Quoting: doesn"t make things concise, paraphrase when there is no other way to present the info (statistics) or when an expert"s opinion is being used. Comfort level with bias: how is it likely going to affect the readers opinion. What type of credentials do they have: position in a company, schooling, certification. Your personal experience: can be very effective or problematic.
