Simple random samples(srs: take sample size n from population in such way that each group size n is equally likely to be chosen, example: drawing names from a hat. When drawing names, each name has an equal chance of being picked: srs therefore produces fair, unbiased samples, there are several variants of sampling, one such is stratified sampling. Multistage sampling: another type of sampling is multistage, samples are taken in stages, for example, samples are taken from pregnant mothers at different stages of their pregnancy. Using random tables: =rand is the excel function for random digits, it helps generate random numbers for distributions. Observational studies: in observational studies, the experimenter only observes for the purpose of research. For example, studying the effects of smoking and cancer rates. The researcher does not impose smoking on a group of people to see if the rate of cancer is affected. They are merely observed, and the medical records then studied.
