Felt it/us destroyed the dream of enlightenment compare to what they"d experience in. Age of reason , early societies believed knowledge came from god. Logic, knowledge was based on observation and reason. Empiricism ( scientific method ) , scientific revolution challenged the tradition way of seeing the world. Can describe the enlightenment as an intellectual approach based on scientific and rational view of the world established the ideological foundations for modern democracy and the free press . Scholar observed the role of the state and questioned what it should be, found out the state to protect the publics right, the stat should serve the public. Three key concepts from the enlightenment: humans are rational, equality and liberty for all, truth discoverable through reason.
