Minimum security institutions generally have no perimeter fencing and allow unrestricted inmate movement, except at night. Medium security institutions - surrounded by high security perimeter fencing in place restrictions on inmate movement. Within the same institution, maybe distinct inmate population is bad for security and safety reasons cannot be allowed to co-mingle: provinces and territories. Institutions at the same security level have their own personalities function of their history, the attitudes, and behavior of administrators and staff, the attributes of inmate population, and other less intangible factors: institutional management models. In federal facilities for men at the maximum and medium security levels, the management model includes assistant warden, operations, and an assistant warden, interventions. Assistant warden, operations oversees activities of several correctional managers: scheduling and deployment, operations, desk / sector. Long term inmates more manageable than short term inmates. They understand that they are going to have to get along with other inmates and staff.
