Not deductive (not developing hypothesis to prove, rather develop open-ended questions letting themes/patterns emerge) Inductive research does not mean having blank slate: must be open to change , ql researchers have open but empty minds (janesick, 2000, p. 384) Focus on process as much as definitions. Why did you choose the topic: what meaning does it hold for you, part of process can change. Links theory to data using selected methods and analytical techniques. Think creatively about methods: think as broadly and creatively as you can about possible methods, will have to limit choices, making list of potential possibilities will help. Focus on link(s) between methods and research questions. Anticipate processes of sampling and data analysis.
