Crim 321 - lecture 2 - continuing the journey. Research project confined to using content analysis as method & non-live artifacts/documents, etc. as unit of analysis. Experience of non-suicidal self injury among non-incarcerated females. To explore the accounts of those w/ history of deliberate self harm. Appreciation of strengths & weaknesses of each possible method. I must address ethics at every stage of research. Investigator triangulation - using diff researchers in study. Data triangulation - using diff data sources in study. Theory triangulation - using multiple theories to interpret data in study. Method triangulation - using diff methods in study. At least 3 experiences of self injury in past 12 months. Through public health nurse (gatekeeper) distribute short one page survey to classes as part of public education campaign - indicate willingness to participate & have criteria of inclusion. Thinking about ethics should be considered continuously throughout research process.
