Forensic experts: the task of forensic experts is to contribute to the fact- nding process by investigation, experimentation and interpretation in order to produce judicially acceptable proof. Knowledge of investigative concepts and theories, within context of practical experience. Forensic identi cation specialist: duties include the examination of crime scenes and exhibits to locate, analyze, compare, and identify ngerprints, palm prints, footwear impressions, and to otherwise locate, record, and recover items of evidence. Locate, record, and recover items of evidence: 80% of this is through photography. Forensic identi cation specialist: specialist versus generalist, specialist at being a generalist, knowledge base encompasses all traditional sciences, biology, chemistry, physics, anthropology and more , photography, dactyloscopy, ridgeology. Dactyloscopy: fingerprint pattern recognition, the classi cation and ling of ngerprints, places ngerprints into pattern types, allows for database searching. Friction ridge identi cation: friction ridge identi cation = ngerprints, friction ridge identi cation is still the mainstay of contemporary forensics.
