CRIM 402 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Concussion, Frontal Lobe, Head Injury
Document Summary
In many cases, even minor injuries to brain function can have a major in uence on future behavior. Head injury: many biological factors that may predispose for crime are directly caused by environmental in uences. They include such events as head injury, exposure to neurotoxins, diet, and birth complications, etc: the brain is protected by the bony protective case of the skull. Inside the skull there are three layers of tissue called the meninges, which surround and cushion the brain. The two halves are separate but they are connected by a bundle of nerve bres called the corpus callosum: the brain can also be divided into lobes or areas. The frontal lobe is the largest, taking up about one third of the brain. The frontal lobe begins around the middle of the top of the skull to the most anterior part of the brain. , so it includes the part of the brain above the eyes and the forehead.
