Intelligence testing goes back to the 1800"s. the fact that there are things that make us more or less capable has been a while for more than 2000 years. This was used to measure intelligence. the smarter the brain, the bigger the brain. Broca"s area (cid:1688)in general, the brain is larger in mature adults than in the elderly, in men than women, in eminent men than in men of mediocre talent, in superior races than in inferior races . Other things equal, there is a remarkable relationship between the development of intelligence and the volume of the brain. (cid:1689) (paul broca) Contemporary psychologists have attempted to make the claim that intelligence is determined by race and gender. all kinds of characteristics can be attributed to different races. Criticisms of racial explanations of intelligence: more variation within groups than between them, confusion between inheritability and inevitability. this raises one of the largest ongoing disputes in psychology: nature vs. nurture.
