August 26th 1789: declaration of the rights of man & the citizen. National assembly main purpose to come up with a constitution that comes up with rules takes a long time : 2 years. August 26th 1789: declaration of the rights of man & the citizen inspire future revolutionaries inspire un declaration. Louis signs off on it theoretically agrees but its basically saying they don"t need a king. Supposed to just be working on constitution but was doing other stuff, new institution and new laws to replace ones that were abolished overnight. Named after geographical things like mountains and rivers names are neutral and not based on history. Departments are more or less the same size. Initially everything"s cool and new constitutional finalized and passed and assembly replaced by new assembly: legislative assembly. Experiencing some problems, revolutionary project slowing down and people losing their enthusiasm for it. Long series of wars that lasts over twenty years.
