She was incredibly unpopular from the moment she arrived in france to marry louis. Big black mark she bore had to do with her nationality she was austrian. Austria was frances traditional rival so they hated everything to do with them (revolutionary marriage to settle differences but exactly that it was against the grain) Out of touch of reality, austrian bitch, people said she cheated on her husband regular basis, lesbian, orgies with members, incest with her own children all these rumors = made her unpopular. All this had an effect on the king and in turn the institution of the monarchy.
