Bioethics is a recent discipline, focusing on new trends in technology. Birth of bioethics coincided with optimism in medicine, expectation that science would cure most or all ids: many ids not perceived as dangerous for relatively wealthy, western academics. Interdisciplinary nature of bioethics makes tackling complex issues like id difficult: other issues appear more philosophically challenging, other issues capture attention through religious controversy. Isolation and quarantine: when it is permitted from isolating those from others. Restricting people coming from countries where the disease is evolving. Some infectious diseases have high levels of morbidity and mortality. As they are infectious, we face worries of public panic, outbreaks, and decisions made under limited time and information: other social programs may need to be subservient to public health given the catastrophic consequences of some ids. Some ids progress rapidly, requiring swift response from ph officials. Individual demands for rapid, full treatment can breed drug resistance that is a threat to the community.
