21 views2 pages

Document Summary

One dna pol iii core (1) is replicating the leading strand while the other two dna pol. Iii core enzymes are dedicated to replication of the lagging strand. Ssbs coat the ssdna regions of the dna (for simplicity, ssbs on the lagging strand are only shown on this slide. (ssb = single-strand dna-binding protein) The following slides with figures (b-e) do not show ssbs (but of course ssbs should be there! Also on the lagging strand: rna primers are in green, okazaki fragments are in red. Periodically, dna primase associates with dna helicase and synthesizes a new rna primer on the lagging strand template. Rna primer is synthesized on the lagging strand. Lagging clamp is loaded onto the newly primed lagging strand. Immediately after a new primer is synthesized, the sliding dna clamp loader assembles a sliding dna clamp at the resulting primer:template junction.
