Let"s return to joanne naiman as she addresses vitally important dimensions of social inequality that persist within our present social system. At this point, it"s useful to remind ourselves of some of the elements contained in the change perspective naiman favours. The change perspective starts from the premise that countless relationships of inequality prevail in society. Naiman"s systematic socio-historical analysis is to identify these social conlicts in canadian daily life and to trace their development. In particular, she seeks to trace the possible origins and development of these oppressive dynamics, many of which we may tend to view as inevitable and unalterable features of social reality. Order theorists tend to dismiss the possibility of successfully establishing other norms: instead, they regard the present system as the only alternative. This preoccupation with order tends to result in the overlooking of the structural inequalities that exist right before our eyes.
