Philip"s oldest brother alexander ii (370-368) becomes king. Ptolemy then assassinated the king (eurydice"s son: so he could rule as regent for perdiccas iii (365-360) philip"s next oldest brother. Macedonians are unable to sort out the situaion so they call in arbitrators from. Thebes: ptolemy maintained his posiion as regent, to guarantee the new peace the thebians took hostages from both sides. Among these hostages was philip ii (brother of reigning king) Ptolemy"s power doesn"t last because in 365 perdiccas has him assassinated so he can fully take the throne.
