The capilano bridge: canadian study about emoion. Theory (explanaion of why emoions occur: when physical arousal occurs. Emoion then ideniied: reason for arousal may not be related to the emoion that it labeled. Hypothesis: unambiguous physical arousal (e. g. , a deinite fear situaion. Research quesion: males induced to be physiologically aroused (with dear) but, will it label it as sexual atracion when there is an atracive mate. Method: paricipants: males 18-35, control condiion: solid bridge, experimental condiion: capilano bridge. Procedure: paricipants crossed either bridge, approached randomly by either male or hot girl, measure of interest. Given phone number confederate for further quesions. Results: paricipants who crossed the stable bridge was not a diference between meeing male/female confederate, paricipants who crossed scary bridge had more sexual imagery in there quiz results. Conclusion: salient and relevant environmental cues inluence the percepion of sexual atracion instead of fear, arousal combines with the environment to change fear to sexual atracion (cogniive labeling)
