Marriage is becoming less permanent- rise in divorce over the last 30 years. Increase in the number of couples who divorce very early in the marriage. People are having less children in their family. One in five children live in a one parent household- most of which are headed by women. Step or reconstituted families- used to be constructed by death and now by divorce and separation. Many carribean families are soley headed by women.
