SWRK 1001H Lecture 7: SWRK - Week 7
Document Summary
Chapter 8: working together with francophones in ontario: understanding the context. Examples at the individual, community, and societal levels and using promising practices: Individuals: we want to help individuals to meet their basic needs, in order to achieve self-sufficiency, development, and social functioning. The idea behind individual change is that if the individual suffers, then communities, suffer as does society as a whole. Where you would want to change the behaviour (domestic violence which can happen due to poverty, lack of employment, environment abusive childhood" learned behaviour, mental health, drugs), stress. It"s a balance, must consider that we are an individual, you can"t tell everyone the same thing as you all have different experiences. Can"t just focus on the environment, it has to be a mix. Individual change can depend on what a person is seeking help for. Your role here is different depending on the individual.
