AUPSY102 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Binocular Disparity, Agnosia, Railways Act 1921
Document Summary
Similarity - will group by colour, shape, size or any other way we would consider them to be similar to one another. Proximity - we tend to cluster things by their proximity to one another. Continuation - we understand that things will continue to exist even if partially covered for example. Closure - with our knowledge of shapes, our mind fills in the blanks and will perceive things as solid. Simplicity - will interpret things in their simplest form. As object size doubles, image size decreases by half. Binocular disparity - different images delivered to the brain. Binocular convergence - eyes turn inward while an object is approaching. One way to look learn about typical recognition is to look the atypical. Agnosia can show/demonstrate specialization of perception senses. Apperceptive agnosia impairment in the occipital/parietal areas , unable to distinguish visual shapes ( can"t discriminate between different objects ) Would not be able to draw a cat knowledge about it.
