Ecology, conservation and economics: human impactions on global ecology, costs of protecting species, ecosystem services. Human appropriation of npp (fig 23. 17: 24% of net production is used by people, deforestation, expansion of cities also effects the productivity. Agricultural footprint (fig 23. 19: water use, nutrient cycling impacts ecology on a global scale, higher footprint in developed countries will alter co2 cycles. Human impacts and gdp (fig 23. 3: in richer countries, there is already a dent in species effect, in poor countries, there is increased pollution, increased co2 emissions.
