EDU100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Uptodate
Document Summary
Six general accepted criteria associated with a profession. Need to have the ability to handle normal and emergency situations. You have to learn how to get on the other side of the desk. Your solid understanding of where you are going comes from your preservice teacher education program and continued professional development. The ability to handle normal and emergency situations comes from experience. The willingness to modify instruction comes from burning desire to see success and enjoyment in others. As professionals, teachers are governed in their professional relationships with other members, school boards, students, parents, and the general public by rules of conduct set out in the code of professional conduct by the association. Teachers are bound by the code outside of their scheduled work life, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Teachers are held to a higher standard than members of the general public.
