Enclosure acts of the uk: common lands declared private property (mostly of local elites) leading to new incentives to improve land productivity, peasants removed from land resulted in excess labour force in cities. Peasants didn"t have a lot of land, but elites had a lot of land, 10-20 acres. Produces a lot of food but made a lot of people not have work. Population revolution: throughout history, after the agricultural revolution, there was a general increase in population. Around the industrial revolution, dramatic increase in population -- line. Gdp growth & population growth: overall the population produced more stuff per person. 20th century -- mass consumption -- mass population. Environment: our surroundings -- all of the living/non-living things with which we interact. Natural environment: the non-human formed elements of the environment. Perpetual resources: resources that replenish constantly and are not impacted by human activity (e. g. solar energy, tidal waves)
