Growing form in many species called (cid:862)trophozoite(cid:863) loses cyst wall (actively growing form) C(cid:455)st for(cid:373) (cid:373)a(cid:455) also (cid:271)e (cid:272)alled a(cid:374) (cid:862)oocyst(cid:863) in some types of protozoa e. g. cryptosporidium. Protozoans to know: entamoeba histolytica, giardia lamblia, trichomonas vaginalis, acanthamoeba, cryptosporidium, toxoplasma gondii, trypanosoma, leishmania, plasmodium. Amoeba can poke hole through intestinal wall and can escape to brain. Agent of amoebic dysentery: from contaminated water and loses cysts as it passes through si. Flask shaped ulcers: when eating away intestinal wall, has s(cid:373)all ope(cid:374)i(cid:374)g (cid:894)(cid:862)flask like(cid:863)(cid:895) Flagellate (has flagella vs entamoeba = amoeba); (cid:272)ausative age(cid:374)t of giardiasis, (cid:862)(cid:271)eaver fever(cid:863) When enter water, will rapidly form round cyst for protection.
