Document Summary
This is a school program that aims to increase the healthfulness of students. Each school receives staff dedicated to address unique barriers. The school health facilitator is a major player in this staff team. The programs are not one size fits all. Each school has the freedom to take the program where they see fit for their school. Black box of implementation: how and why these changes happened or didn"t happen is what they are interested after program is put into place. Effectiveness of apple schools is defined as improvements compared to other alberta schools without these programs. Pre-measured then interventions are done and then post is measured to see if it was effective and significant. The fact that they were successful is great but they were more interested in the how and why the changes occurred. How was data collected: school health facilitator interviews to explore the knowledge, preconceptions and attitudes of these individuals, teacher focus groups, administrator interviews.
