Document Summary

Quick general overview- meat and poultry begin on the farm/barn then moved to the slaughter and processing plants. The meat products are packaged then transported to the supermarket and end up on our tables after we prepare them. Milk and milk products begin when the cow is milked. The milk is then transported in big tank trucks to the processing facility where they are turned into the products we know and love. Finally, we get them from the supermarket and they end up on our tables. Meat: the animals that we get these products from are heavily contaminated with bacteria. The bacteria sources of an animal range from their gi tract, the external contaminants on their hide like mud and feces. Pigs are also bad for carrying hep e virus in their blood. It is possible for cows to also carry salmonella in their lymph nodes too. We find an entire shopping list of pathogens.
