PEDS294 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Flattening, Contact Force
Document Summary
Direction and amount of action (magnitude) will determine the amount and direction of. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction the reaction. Reactive forces must be present in order for the motion to occur. Csa: contacting surface area; the more csa, the less wpua (weight per unit area); the less csa the more wpua. Friction: contact force resisting movement; demands depend on conditions; advantage/disadvantage. ~ torque created on the object causes the air particles to move more slowly on the point of contact than the opposite side. ~ pressure differential causes path of the ball to move from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. ~ spin is a result of uneven pressure. ~ trajectory will curve in the same direction of the spin; top spin = down. ~ no spin: angle of incidence = angle of reflection. The swing arc is the path of the action made by the foot/arm/hand.
