Document Summary

Reliability looks at the consistency of measures. Test-retest reliability; where the same questionnaire formulates reliable information over a specific time period. Inter-rater reliability; an extent to which different experimenters agree on a measure. Where an experimenter asks how many times a ball is being passed and a gorilla passes through. Archival measures; looking into archives and look for a particular phenomenon. Personality; the utility of true and false questions about typical behaviour. Neuropsychological tests; diagnose brain function (and dysfunction) Testing things such as; heart or breathing rate, blood pressure, blood and saliva samples (to determine hormone levels). Aim to identify behaviours in natural settings. These experiments provide clues about cause-effect relationships. They do not provide conclusions, they help us gather information to provide more testing. Descriptive research does not test cause-effect relationship directly. Is a form of design in which examines one person or small number of people (a sample) in depth, over an extended time period.
