Document Summary

Judaism is one of the 3 abrahamic religions. Ethical: it assumes the existence of a creator, who loves humanity and gave humans moral principles for the jews to live by, and in extension all people. There a fundamental difference between god and the world he created, therefore incarnation (god taking a human form) can"t occur. There is also a sense of immanence, the closeness of god; god is active in the world. Jews pray to god and they expect their prayers to be heard. Traditionally they used to believe that: jews have sinned against god, so god brings evil against those who have rejected his laws as punishment. After the holocaust, for some it led to atheism, but for others, there was a new explanation, the divine eclipse. The divine eclipse is when god eclipses himself from the world, and this eclipse creates a void that allows evil to enter the world.
