Some deviance focus on sensational and dramatic and extreme but they are very subjective based on personal values and experiences. Most deviance definitions combine both objective and subjective definitions towards the term deviance. Something specific about it like a quality or characteristic that makes it deviant. Deviance will be obvious; we will know it when we see it. Complexity comes in the fact that not everyone agrees on the degree of deviance that you say. Why do people join cults, or do crazy surgery to their bodies. Subjective-> perceptions and rxns to deviance captures their attention. Cant recognize deviance when we see it but we have to be told about it. Cant always recognize when something is deviant but we have to be told or taught about it from parents media etc. Socially defined form of deviance how is it that some things are defined as deviant but others arent.
