Content: literal meaning of the words ( i hate you) Speech act: action performed by speaking (declaring anger, are we joking) Episode: frame and context of situation (whats going on to cause me to say i ate you, the circumstances) Relationship: the way you usually interact with the person you are talking to (if you guys are close, if you say i hate you, you can interpret it as a joke) Autobiographies: how we see ourselves (do i see myself as someone who is a prankster, someone who is casual i think i can get away with saying i hate you as people will think i am joking)
