Liquids: cover term for r"s and l"s ( lateral and rhotic) Laterals: varieties of l, which are articulated by air escaping through the mouth along the lowered sides of the tongue. L symbol is used for both the dental and alveolar varieties. Normally voiced; marked as [l] circle under the l when voiceless ( air escaped )
