Starch: alpha 1-4 and 1-6 linkage of glc polymer. Cellulose: beta 1-4 linkage of glc polymer. Polyphenolic compound that is actually not cho. Not just one kind of molecule like lipid. Indigestible to animals because no enzyme to digest the linkage. Wash using detergent, leftover is crude fibre measurement. Cellulose and part of hemicell, part of lignin = crude fibre. Good indicator of cellulose content and doesn"t capture other soluble fibres. Crude fibre is only a small fraction of total fibre. Not very popular, but should be used. Acid detergent fibre and neutral detergent fibre (adf and ndf) more common in ruminant nutrition. Difference between adf and ndf = hemicellulose content of feed. Some feedstuff have a lot of fibre. Sometimes we need to focus more than the useful nutr like protein, lipid etc, we should pay more attention to fibre. Paying a lot of shipping for fibre. Fibre content has an impact on energy content.
