Document Summary
Testes = where sperm is produces (have coiled tubes seminiferous tubules) Vas deferens = delivers sperm to urethra, scrotum & penis. Immature sperm spends 20days in epididymis where they mature. Epididymis & vas deferens main site for sperm storage. Contribute to production of semen: prostate gland: produces fluid to activate sperm, seminal vesicle: activates & nourishes sperm, bulbourethral gland: produces mucus to cleanse urethra (also seen in foreplay) Epididymis > vas deferens > ejaculatory duct > pass thru prostate gland > urethra. Sperm is ejaculate that contains sperm & nutritive fluid. Seminal fluid has sugar that gives sperm cells energy & has antibacterial substances that aid sperm mobility. During development testes leave body & turn into scrotum for protection. Testes have lower temp aiding in sperm maturation. Urethra made of erectile tissue that fills w blood when aroused. Blood flow cause by vasodilation of penis vessels.
