Sexual health among older men and women: Sex is still important in older adult relationships. Usually negative but may also be positive. Ability to apply knowledge of life events to make optimal decisions when trying to solve life problems. Functional age: age measured by competence or performance. Activities that are needed to live independently: 14% between 2006 and 2011 older generation. Physiological changes that occur over time i. e. bone mass loss, reduction of growth hormone. There are sex and class differences in how physical changes are regarded. Some believe that aging is a frame of mind. Changes in personality, cognitive, emotional arousal, memory, learning, and motivation. It"s difficult to find qualities that are characteristics of most elderly. They show more differences than similarities, as do younger people. Changes in social roles and social status over time i. e. retirement is a status change. Social age is based on cultural norms, which specify how we should act at a certain age.
