Reactive attachment disorder: inadequate caregiving (i. e. institutional), neglect, emotionally withdrawn. Disinhibited social engagement disorder: child willing to accept strangers who aren"t attachment figures. Theory of the mind: study of one"s ability to understand one"s own or another person"s mental state. Adolescents shift focus from family to peers. The ability to recognize faces and emotions continues to improve into adulthood. Adolescents are more reactive to emotional faces than adults. Several structures involved in processing emotional and social information. Characterized by difficulty in social interactions, communication, stereotypical and or repetitive behaviours. Asperger"s is a mild asd where language delays may not be present.
