NUTR 1010 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Adipose Tissue, Adenosine Triphosphate, Short-Chain Fatty Acid
Document Summary
Holds onto water: drink lots of water (or other liquids) What do probioics do: have been shown to decrease duraion of diarrhea and prevent diarrhea caused by anibioics, may help prevent other diseases??, heart diseases, cancer, allergies. Make short chain faty acids, improve gi health. Geing the nutrients into cells through difusion, facilitated difusion and acive transport. Into the blood and lymph: nutrients are then processed and/or burnt for energy. Carries blood and water-soluble nutrients from the digesive tract to your liver. The liver to be processed then releases nutrients so cells can directly use them. The lymphaic system: absorbed fat paricles are packaged to it in small capillaries. Fat-soluble materials go from the intesinal cells into the lymphaic system, then into the blood. The lymphaic system collects and ilters the body"s luid it helps us ight infecions. Nutrients in the blood stream: nutrients (water soluble) are pumped through the body in the blood stream.
