NUTR 3070 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Escalator, Motivational Interviewing, Participaction
Document Summary
Sem: ecology (biology): looks at the relationships b/w organisms and the environment, ecological models typically focus on the environment and policies, sem evolved from biological sciences to behavioural (looking at people and how they interact, environmental influences. Intrapersonal factors things that are w/in you (ie. knowledge, attitudes, intentions, perceived barriers, etc. ) The intrapersonal level is nested w/in the interpersonal level, then w/in an organization, etc. Shows everything is related/connected to your behaviour: the outermost layers have the most influence on the individual. Policy effects the community, which effects organizations, which effects the individual, and then how they behave/think. Levels of intervention: upstream vs downstream strategies: looking at the causes of disease vs. prevention. Principles of ecological models: there are multiple determinants/factors that influence health behaviour. Influences interact across the different levels (these variables work together: ex. Levels of influence intrapersonal: w/in the individual.
