Overview of intervenion mapping (im) (bartholomew et al. , 2011) Planning approach based on: developing theory- & evidence-informed programs, ecological approach, community paricipaion, theory & evidence. Theory to describe factors to achieve change. Theory to protect against type iii error. Core processes for appling theory & evidence: posing quesions (e. g. , causes; determinants, brainstorming answers (provisional list, reviewing the literature for empirical evidence, accessing and using theory, conducing new research, developing inal summary of answers ( relevance ; changeability , ecological models. Health is a funcion of individuals & environments. Program may be aimed at any ecological level. Agents at each level: community paricipaion. Intervenion mapping steps: needs assessment, matrices, theory-based intervenion methods & pracical applicaion. Entails 2 components: epidemiologic behaviours & social analysis of community or at-risk group for health-related problems, understanding the character of the community. Importance: discrepancy between what is & what should be, real & perceived needs, address factors that inluence health or health risk, assess determinants.
