Political culture: attitudes, beliefs, and norms that people have developed toward government and politics. Beyond just voting how people feel about politics, orientate themselves to the system. Activated by and influences political activities: media dictated by political culture, interest groups, corporations and unions. It is not a singe cohesive form: three large types of political culture. The civic culture (1963: parochial: citizens feel that they are removed from politics. Lack of interest in politics they feel like they don"t matter, don"t have an impact. No influence on how the country operates. Uninformed: subject: citizens subject to decisions without consultation. Citizens may be informed, but do not play active role. May be aware of what"s going on, but they don"t play an active role: ex. Vote every 4 years, but don"t participate otherwise: participation: citizens play an active role in politics. Constant and dynamic relationship with political authorities.
