Complex interdependence: keohane and nye: power does not translate to other areas we must look at all different types of power and issue areas, non state actors are pursuing actions outside of state control, they are their own actors, this creates the cobweb, no such thing as high or low politics because there are so many transactions that take place, we do not prioritize what is important and not because everything is important, states are powerful in some areas, non states can be more powerful in other areas, international relations is really important. Impacts decision making of leaders: trade creates ties, we invest more in these ties, more war hurts than benefits, think twice, basic principle, more than just trading *brooks, production of something is made from several different places, technology, clothing, creates a more integrated role than before, mnc production.
