Main principles: voluntary and informed participation, no harm. Active consent (or passive consent: sometimes a form must be signed but in some cases passive consent (verbal acceptance or no protest after explanation) is acceptable. Exit option: cannot force people to stay, they must be given the chance to leave whenever they want. Debrief subjects: don"t deceive them for evil purposes, although some deception is okay as long as they are debriefed thoroughly afterwards. Respect privacy: analysis and dissemination of findings can hurt participants. Exception is those that are involved in the public domain, like politicians.
