Divisions of the nervous system: central nervous system (cns, brains & spinal cord, peripheral nervous system, connects cns with muscles, glands, sensory receptors. Rats in pool of water with hidden plaform. Takes out part of brain that afects memory. During brain surgery, no pain receptors in brain. Ct scans can read diferent speeds through diferent parts of the brain for mapping. Helps in concussions injuries, shouldn"t be looking at grey mater but at pathways. Three major brain regions: hindbrain, lowest, first to develop, survival funcions, midbrain, middle, 2nd to develop, sensaion and acion, forebrain, highest, 3rd to develop, memory, thought, emoion. Medulla (think of medusa, if you turned to stone you wouldn"t have biological funcions) Pons (think of rowers on a pond falling asleep) Cerebellum (think of sara bellum the gymnast doing motor control) Think of song stuck in the middle with you.
