An educational psychologist was interested in examining the predictors of success for an engineering exam. Previous research had led her to believe that the best predictor of exam success was the number of hours students spent reading the text. She wanted to test the extent to which the number of hours spent on practice questions could increase prediction of exam grades (beyond just using hours spent reading the text). As well, she wanted to test the extent to which the amount of sleep a student obtained the night before an exam could increase prediction of exam grades (beyond just using hours spent reading the text).
